MMORPG

MMORPG. That stands for Massively Multiplayer Online RolePlaying Game.

A few months in my junior year in high school a friend told me about a game he was playing called Mabinogi. Mabinogi, or Mabi as the players so fondly call it, is a game from the Korea based MMORPG Company called NEXON. Even though the game itself is developed in Korea, it uses Celtic mythology as its basis for the races, monsters, and plotlines throughout the game.

The next night I made my character, though it took me an hour to go through different name combinations to finally get one that wasn’t already in use. I finally had a character; I named her Akira2011, my nickname and the year I was supposed to graduate. I gave her bright red hair and dark green eyes. There are so many different looks a single person can have, there’s even a tailoring skill where the character can make clothes, and special dye amps that you can use to change the color for an even completely different look! Of course, the dyes are more so like color roulette, a window pops up and you pick part of the item you want to dye, then there are 5 little wands that float over a tie dye picture and the arrangement of the color will differ every time you use a dye.  So you pick the color you want with the middle wand and you simply have to hope it picks that color. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve gotten pink, green, or purple instead of black and red.

Playing this game is more than just a simple game to me. The art in it is extraordinary, so is the story along with it. There are so many cool people to meet too. The game has taught me patience along with, “never back down from a fight”. It’s so much fun to play, but the only real downside is that if I don’t clean my computer right when I get off, it does bad things to it. And apparently I’m one of the few that that actually happens to. Go figure.

The video is of my character playing Red like Roses from RWBY.

Demons Inside

Once again, my character Akira Tsukigami. She is half vampire and half succubus. Pictured above is the form she takes on when she loses control of her emotions, which in turn makes her lose control of her human form. I have a very specific idea of a vampire, and the same for a succubus; here are her powers.

Vampires
Succubae/ Incubi
Strength
Flight –wind style chakra
Regeneration of body parts
Can enter people’s minds/dreams
Control over an element
Extremely attractive (When they lose their virginity they have black hair and red eyes)
Heightened senses
Talon nails (retractable)
Memory erase
“Charm”-temp mind control
Affiliated animal summon
Illusions
Blood affinity
“Kiss” -  able to suck chakra our of a person with intimate contact (can be deadly if all is sucked out)
Speed
Weapon Summon (only a few can do this)
No Chakra (this is why they are considered undead)
Healing powers (similar to med ninjutsu)
The lighter the shade of color of hair the stronger they are overall.
Shape shifting

Speed ->                                     *Teleportation*                              <-Flight

Pop Danthology

I love music. Like, a lot. I also love anime. So, like the many thousands on YouTube like me, I decided to make an AMV. AMV stands for Anime (or animated) Music Video. Now it wasn't my first time when I decided to make this most recent one and it didn't take long for me to decide what song to use; Pop Danthology 2013 by Daniel Kim. The very first clip and the second one were the first two that I edited, but after that it was kind of at random when I placed things, and I think that helps me when I do work on AMVs cause it helps with the lip syncing which is a big deal in the AMV sub-subculture. It took such a long time though finding clips of anime that were in high quality and didn't have subtitles cause I don't have an all site downloader, just one that only works for YouTube. But all-in-all, I'm definately proud of my work and I will continue to make them when the urge hits me hard enough to get off my arse and make one. xD

Future Inspiration

There are millions upon millions of people with tattoos. In the near future I want to be one of those people, walking around with art permanently on my skin. Ok, so I'm gonna be a bit cliche here and go for a tribal type tattoo, and a rose tattoo. But then I'm gonna go a little less cliche here and go for a tribal rose tattoo. Although no matter what design I try to come up with myself it doesn't seem to look good. So what do you do in a bind like that? Turn to Google Images of course! Most of the results I found were either pretty lame or had nothing to do with roses. But y;know how if you single click on a image result that it will bring up other related images? Well  I happened to find one that I really liked that way and as soon as I get enough money to get it, I'm gonna!

ZOMBEHS!!!

So my boyfriend moved in recently which means along came his Xbox and all the games he has on it. He has this mission to turn me from casual gamer to avid gamer girl (which is starting to happen) kind of like turning into a zombie. Speaking of which, I just finished this awesome game called The Walking Dead. Take note that it is the game not the show.

Not only is the story so advanced where the storyline is interactive (to a point though, there are certain things that no matter what you do something terrible happens) in a game that isn't a Dating Simulation where your choices decide your fate, including the non-playable character's fates; the artwork is incredible. The art director Derek Sakai created the characters designs and 3D models from scratch, no models were used unlike with most 3D, well anything, out there. Considering that, the crew who worked on it to create the game from Telltale Games did an amazing job and The Walking Dead: Season 2 (which recently wrapped up) is their best work yet!

Cloudy Day

This previous project gave me trouble, but not as much trouble as the clouds. The idea I had for them was to make it look like those really pretty clouds at around dusk or twilight when they're reflecting the sunlight off of them (which actually isn't a natural occurrence but I won't delve into that at the moment). The brush i was using at first i thought was the right kind, which did allow me to get the right colors but I could never get the right shape with it. I kept trying and trying with different techniques and combination of brushes for days on end but I just couldn't get the right look.

I was on the verge of a breakdown. I was looking at Yuumei's dA gallery for updates on those Axent Headphones I've been waiting to come out, and i found just what I need, a tutorial! Which conveniently came with the right brushes I needed. I followed as closely as i could and the clouds themselves turned out great which really brought the whole piece together! But for the goal I had in mind... I'm not sure I would've been able to get it rightif I had even a whole month to work on it...

Neko-kun

My little brother is one of the most adorable little kids you could ever meet, and I'm not just saying that- multitudes of people outside my family have said that, even some of my friends who despise little kids think he's cute. So when the five year old came up to me asking me to draw him as a cat of course I complied!

I went to an anime convention earlier this year (though that's another story entirely) and got a large bell, seen in the picture on the right, and it makes the most beautiful bell noise~. And he absolutely loves wearing it, more than I do, so he went and put it on for the picture I needed to take of him so I could draw him.

I wanted to make it anime styled since we both really like anime (like big sis, like little bro right?) but I also wanted to keep it somewhat realistic so that even my mom could recognize the facial features as my little brother. Overall it wasn't that difficult drawing and coloring, but since I didn't want to put what was on his shirt, on the one in the finished piece I had to rack my brain for a little while trying to figure out something out there so that it wouldn't look like an empty void.  I finally came up with the idea to simply put "Neko" or cat in Japanese on his shirt.

I let him pick out the colors for his hair, eyes, and shirt, and while he did pick neon green (which is an odd color for hair even in anime) I think he's also got a bit of an artist in him as well since it all turned out well in the end.
